Bus camp out, NC June 29th - July 1st

Buses on the Lake June 29th thru July 1st
The NC Local Bus Club will be gathering at Jordan Lake for its first unofficial camp out. The lake is located on US Highway 64 nine miles east of Pittsboro, NC and about 10 miles west of Cary, NC. Jordan lake is really a beautiful. In fact it is one of the few places you can see bald eagles soaring above head.

We will be camping in Loop C of the Crosswinds Campground at the Jordan Lake State Recreation Area. place. The C loop is on the water and offers sites with hookups for $17 per nite and without hookups for $12 per nite. Many of the sites are duplex sites and will accommodate two buses. Since we cannot reserve sites the strategy will be to grab all the duplex sites and than allow other buses to camp with us as they arrive so we can all stick together.

Details on the campground including a spiffy .pdf map of the campground and loops is available at http://www.ils.unc.edu/parkproject/jordcrc.html

This is an informal event and there are no plans for group meals or door prizes. If you want to put something togerther please feel free to. We will however have a least one small sailboat as well as a catamaran that are owned by local bus club members. They will most likely be offering to take folks out if they want to go. Swimming and fishing in accordance with local policy are also available.

Gate to the part close at 8:00 so plan on being there before then!

Crosswinds is a State Recreation area so please familiarize yourself with the rules when you arrive.

EveryBus is an annual camping event for VW Transporters: from Barndoors to Eurovans. They stress that you must have a T2 to participate. The organizer does provide an e-mail address for those unfortunate souls who have mechanical problems.

Thanks for the tip Andy!

The amount of posts for mid-Atlantic states seems to justify it's own locale, so they have been moved out of the Sosutheastern topic. I apologize these are not in any particular order. -- Moderator.

A friend just reminded me EveryBus 2007 will be held near Greensboro NC in Hagen-Stone Park at Pleasant Garden NC the weekend of April 12-15. Apparently some go early -- she said she was going up today (4/11/07). Some of the above links are or malfunctioning but Everybus seems to be working.
