Default 81 Westfalia help a newbie

    Hello,

    81 westy 2.0 FI.....manual 129,000 miles

Driving 55 sudden loss of power. Towed home.
    New coil
    New plugs, wires, condensor, points.
    Cap and Rotor look great.

Adjusted valves *hydraulic* correctly I hope. 1.5 turns
    Present day activities:
Spark is present, she spins great, wants to start, catches and dies immediately.
If given gas pedal too much she backfires violently kindly removing all hoses upon
    detonation.

Did full AFC training manual on FI system. All good. Did compression check.
    1- 60 psi
    2-4 - 0 psi

what else can I do? could I have not done my valves correctly?

Let me know or she's going on the local Craigslist.

    Thank You,

    al

Valves on your van are hydraulic and are not to be adjusted.

If you have 0 compression on cylinders 2 - 4 then you have issues. Since you 'adjusted' the valves I'd have to assume you created the current situation then so go back and undo everything you did regarding the valves and then recheck compression. Bottom line is that nothing will happen without compression so start there.

    Keep us in the loop.
