Default 1984 Westy fuel over flow when filling.

Hello, We just put in a 1998 jetta TDI in our 1984 westy. One problem which was there before is that when we fill fuel to a full tank it leaks out from the middle near the front of the tank. It only leaks out when we fill the tank. It then stops leaking when we are not filling the tank. Quite a bit leaks, about 1/2 a gallon. Any ideas? Thanks, Cory in Reno

You will have to pull the tank to get an idea of where the leak is from but it will probably a seal or hose. Given the fact that your vehicle is 28+ years old and you just installed a new engine, I would suggest that you pull the tank and replace the hoses. During that removal and replacement it should be fairly obvious of what is leaking.
