    Question reviving my van

    Hello Westfalians,

I'm sorry to report I've neglected my van for two years. It's been sitting still, not being enjoyed, all this time. I'd like to get it going again, to get it to a shop for some upgrades. It was working fine the last time I used it, although it was leaking oil at a steady pace.

I'm wondering what I need to do before trying to start it for the first time in two years. Like:

    - Change the oil
    - Drain the gas and put new gas in

What else should I add to this list? Thank you

Change the air filter, charge the battery.

Remove the spark plugs, spray some motor oil into each cylinder (roughly 1 tbsp), and let it sit over night. This will help free up the cylinders and keep them lubricated long enough for the oil pump to get oil moving.

Turn the engine over with the plugs out first. Put in new plugs, then try to start it. Once it catches, it will smoke for a few minutes then stop.

You should be okay after that.
