We've had our yellow '84 Westy for one year and the four of us enjoy it tremendously as a versatile 2nd car. Customization includes adding middle seat facing backwards, seat belts for eight, removable two-part vinyl flooring panels for main cabin area, dual receiver front bike rack/crunch cushion, tow bar hidden inside rear bumper and euro cig lighter replaced with American power outlet.
Just returned from 4-day Father/Daughter camping trip (while wife worked) driving 500 miles and costing $150 including gas. Was a great adventure finding place to park (for free) each night.
Not only does our Westy provide us with excuses to get away but it is economical (18mpg), repairable by myself, and carries 7 children one mile to school on rainy days. Yet, there is always something needing to be fixed
