The Green Van of Awesomeness (as it has come to be called) needs a new home. The GVA is a rare 1994 Eurovan Westfalia. This is the last year that North American campers were outfitted by Westfalia. No Eurovans were imported into US in '94. In 1995 VW campers were outfitted in North America by Winnebago. Canada continued to import the German Westfalia campers for the 1994 year. The quality and design of the Westfalia campers is notable in comparison to the later Winnebago conversions. This van has the 5 cylinder Audi engine so it can actually be used to pass other cars on the highway! And it has enough power to tow a trailer or boat with the hitch attachment included.
We love this van and have put thousands of dollars and lots of energy into keeping her adventure ready. With about 324,000 km on the clock she has had the following major services done in the past few years: New rebuilt automatic transmission (about 50k on it since rebuild) Complete engine overhaul including rebuilt injectors New coolant pump New exhaust manifold New exhaust and cat New CV boots New AC compressor New battery New sealed AGM auxiliary battery (the best available) New windshield Undercoating All new tires
Plus much more
In addition, we have added the following Solar panel and inverter Additional 12 plug at rear hatch Yakima roof rails for rack system Removable folding jump seat (totalling seating for six if they're not too big!) Extra seat belt in bench seat (for a total of 5 belts!) Bike rack for rear hitch Four brand new snow tires on rims (We stopped driving in the winter the year after we purchased these so they have barely been used)
Aside from normal wear the interior is in excellent shape. It still has the factory stickers warning not to drive with the top up. The pop top canvas is like new. The camper equipment is in excellent shape including icebox/fridge, stove and sink.
The down side: The rear blower/heater unit needs replacement Both AC and heat work excellently but the fan assembly is noisy and should be replaced. Paint is original and in great shape for the age but rust is beginning to appear around seams, at rocker panels and very slightly at base of windshield.
This van has taken our family across the country in all directions and she has many more years of adventuring left in her.
